Lone Wolf Music is a division of Lone Wolf Productions, an audio/video production company. Lone Wolf Productions has been involved in video production and marketing since 1997 and is now branching out into the music industry. President John W. Crawford has been affiliated with a Progressive Rock project (soon to be announced) that he wrote. A long time fan of Progressive Rock/Metal, John has learned many things about the music industry through this affiliation.

"I have had extensive negotiations with many Progressive Rock Labels and was very disappointed with their biased, prejudiced opinions. I decided to start Lone Wolf Music as a way to give artists a trustworthy and reliable avenue for releasing quality records."

Lone Wolf Music is going to distribute Progressive Rock and Progressive Metal to a worldwide market.

So what is the difference between Progressive Rock and Progressive Metal?

Progressive Rock
Progressive rock is music that is non-traditional at times. Complex structures and rhythms that challenge the mind to follow it. Odd time signatures, instrumentals and classical elements are common in Progressive Rock. Although the music is challenging, carefully placed melodies (both with vocals and instruments) allow the listener to catch the hook of the song. Lyrics are usually very poetic and trigger thoughts and one's imagination. All of these complex parts are interwoven with a classic rock style.

Some examples of Progressive Rock are:
Rush, Yes, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Camel, Dream Theater, Magellan, Shadow Gallery and Fates Warning.

Progressive Metal
Progressive Metal is a mutation of Progressive Rock which contains the same basic elements but has a harder edge. Progressive Metal often has faster and more complex rhythms which help to drive the song. Double bass drumming and quick riffs are common in Progressive Metal.

Some examples of Progressive Metal are:
Rhapsody, Silent Force, Kamelot, Freedom Call, Evergrey, Hammerfall, Pain of Salvation, Night Wish and Dream Theater (DT often covers both genres).

Progressive Rock/Metal is relatively underground and in the USA receives virtually no radio play. However' radio in other parts of the world do embrace Progressive Rock/Metal and it has a strong following worldwide. Some of the finest and hardest working musicians are in Progressive Rock/Metal and production is often very difficult and time-consuming. In recent years New Metal has shown some Prog influences and bands like Tool, Godsmack, System of a Down, Disturbed and A Perfect Circle have begun adding these key elements to their music. Although they are "clones" their attempts are at times applauded by Prog fans.

Lone Wolf Music is looking to release quality Progressive Rock/Metal records and provide fans with hours of listening pleasure from musicianship at its finest. We are always looking for new bands to distribute, so if you have material please see our "demo submission" page.
